Valsanzibio, one of the most important historical gardens in Europe, was re-designed on a grand scale in mid-17th c. by the Venetian nobleman Zuane Francesco Barbarigo. Plenty of water enlivens an extraordinary world of fountains, cascades, jokes, fi sh-ponds and brooks. The fi ne statues convey deep meanings to a sequence of episodes and vistas, framed by box walls or ancient trees.
