Situated close to Padova and Vicenza, the villa is the largest in the Veneto region. Together with the town of Piazzola it forms a single architectonic complex characterised by porticos, irrigation ditches and fish ponds, large courtyards and eighteenth century workshops. To the south the villa faces a large square with a semi-circular portico, while to the north there are 50 hectares of parkland with fish ponds, lakes and tree-lined avenues. The imposing villa is characterized by a 16th c. central body, realized on a project by Andrea Palladio, and two impressive wings with balaustra and statues. Inside, among numerous frescoed halls and loggias, the beautiful ‘room of the guitar’ is of particular interest: its shape guarantees a perfect acoustic and is used to record concerts.
