The Botanic Garden was founded in 1545 with the name of “Simples Garden” (medicinal plants) by the Faculty of Medicine. It displays an extremely important collection of rare plants, and houses the old library and botany collections of the University. Since 1997 it has been included in the World Heritage List of Unesco.
